Michele Carlson is a practicing artist, writer, curator, and educator in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her visual works have been exhibited nationally and her critical writings on art and culture can be found in numerous publications including KQED, Art in America, Hyphen, and Afterimage. Carlson is on the Board of Directors at SOMArts Cultural Center, San Francisco, CA and the Advisory Board for the Center for Arts and Public Life at California College of the Arts.
Carlson is one third of the arts collective Related Tactics, which facilitates projects at the intersection of race, art, and culture.
She is currently the Executive Director at Art Practical, a West Coast arts media organization based in San Francisco, CA and Associate Professor in Visual and Critical Studies at California College of the Arts.
